Information and Library Center of the University of Tyumen
While the modern center officially opened in 2001, the University of Tyumen Library is the oldest university library in the Tyumen Region, with roots tracing back to 1930.
The modern Information and Library Centre holds more than 2 million publications in various academic fields. These include:
Scientific and teaching publications in Russian, English, French, and other languages
A unique collection of rare and antique books dating 16th -20th centuries
Specialized collection of bibliographic, information and reference publications
Dissertations and abstracts
Every year the Centre renews its subscription to more than 500 periodical publications, including scientific journals in both English and German. The eight reading rooms and nine delivery desks are used by more than 26 000 readers (the ILC has seven branches in Tyumen). Annually, more that 1.6 million publications are delivered by the ILC. The ILC’s main customers are students, PhD students, teaching and other university staff, as well as students from other Tyumen universities, colleges, schools etc.
Visitors of the ILC have the possibility to access the electronic catalogue, electronic library systems, electronic library of dissertations, and scientific information resources. Wi-Fi internet access is available on the premises of the ILC.
In the aim of ensuring the safety of the collection and also giving visitors the opportunity to access rare books electronically, the ILC digitalizes the rare books collection using modern equipment.
In order to meet the particular demands of the readers, more specialized libraries are available at various UTMN Institutes.
