UTMN tutors help first-year students integrate into a new education system

Admissions 16 August 2018
A team of tutors, created for assisting students who follow individualized educational trajectories, took part in the International forum “Summer Tutoring School” in Saint Petersburg.

During one week, UTMN tutors attended lectures, workshops and open discussions. In addition to participating in the educational program, they learnt how this educational system was implemented in other universities.

“We were mostly interested in exchanging experience with our colleagues and it turned out that we are moving in the same direction. It means that tutoring is an indispensable element in the evolution of educational systems,” said Aleksandr Sannikov, one of the tutors.

In the new academic year five tutors will help first-year students shape their own education. The tutors were selected from a great number of applicants; every one of them has a substantial youth work experience.

With the help of tutors, freshmen will choose courses that reflect their interests and plan their education for the next four years. They will also be kept informed of any scientific conferences, scholarships or supplementary courses.

The first meeting will take place in September during the orientation week.
