International 20 October 2017
Leonid Shmakov from the UTMN Laboratory of Network and System Administration won the gold medal at the WorldSkills International Competition in the “IT Network Systems Administration” category, beating representatives of 28 countries.

The 44th WorldSkills International Competition, held in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, ended on 19 October. 1300 young professionals from 75 countries took part in the competition.

“Such a great result was achieved through working hard and working as a team,” commented Alexandr Gorbachev, Russian expert in the category. “While I was evaluating and defending our results, a group of instructors was working with Leonid. It is this teamwork that allowed us to improve our scores in comparison with previous international competitions”.

For the last two months, the UTMN Laboratory of Network and System Administration has been a hive of activity in preparation for the WorldSkills competition. The Laboratory’s experts Mikhail Fuchko, Ruslan Gasseyev and Ruzil Mukhametov took part in the preparatory work and provided Leonid with technical support throughout the competition.
