UTMN to hold the first Chinese proficiency test

International 15 January 2019
On the 23rd of March, 2019, the University of Tyumen will hold its first HSK and HSKK Chinese proficiency tests

The HSK test (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is the only test of Standard Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers.

The opening of the HSK testing center in Tyumen has become possible due to cooperation between the Confucius Institute of the Ural State University and the UTMN Chinese Center

“It is a real leap forward, as learning Chinese is growing in popularity. Currently, about 120 people at UTMN and up to 500 at the city in total study Chinese,” said Vladimir Nezhdanov, Director of the UTMN Chinese Center. “Despite the large number of our students studying Chinese, UTMN’s HSK testing center is ready to welcome Chinese-learners from either Tyumen region or the Ural Federal District”.

The HSK and HSSK tests are administered by the Hanban, an agency of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. An HSK certificate is internationally recognized and has a permanent validity.

According to Vladimir Nezhdanov, holding an HSK certificate gives following advantages
  • opportunity to apply for a scholarship to study in China;
  • opportunity to apply for a Chinese university (applicants are required to reach the new HSK level 4-6);
  • employment preferences when applying for jobs requiring Chinese language skills.

Online registration for the test will be open until February 21, 2019
