Arab students choose the University of Tyumen for higher education
The University of Tyumen, one of the 14 leading universities in Russia, becomes a member of a Commission for screening prospective candidates from Arab countries to study in the Russian Federation.
Russian Embassy in Lebanon and the International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) recently held an online screening for prospective students to study at Russian Universities. The number of finalists will be determined by the quota established by the Government of the Russian Federation for the 2020/2021 academic year.
The Commission for the event consisted of the Russian Embassy in Lebanon and International Humanitarian Cooperation. Representatives of 14 leading Russian universities also attended the screening, who were leaders in their respective areas of research and were advanced in training specialists in the relevant sectors. The University of Tyumen was also among them. Ahmed Ibrahim Sayed, Director of the UTMN Arabic center, was one of the members of the Commission. The Director of UTMN Arab Center commented that they are looking forward to recruiting more talented international students.
This year, the University of Tyumen has 67 enrolled students from the Arab countries. The most popular programs are computer science, information systems and technologies, linguistics, economics, and computer science.
Ekaterina Sechenova, Head of the UTMN Department of International Affairs, comments:
"Here at the University of Tyumen we annually have several events to attract new international students: UTMN takes part in educational panels, interacts with representatives of Russian Federation in foreign countries, works with reliable recruitment agencies. Of course, the current epidemiological situation changed the way these events are held – all of them are now conducted online.
For the last few years, we have seen a significant increase in interest in studying at our University. Applicants from all over the world are attracted to UTMN for several reasons. We offer lucrative prices for education, guaranteed housing in dorms (this year it is possible that the housing will be available again after the borders are opened), individual learning paths and a developed system of support for foreign citizens, which includes visa help; consultations; airport meet and greets".
