UTMN and Tel Aviv Scholars Discuss Prospects of Joint Research

A delegation from UTMN has paid a working visit to Tel Aviv University (Israel). During the visit, UTMN scholars had a look at the TAU Department of Sociology and Anthropology and discussed the prospects of cooperation between Tel Aviv University and the UTMN Department of General and Economic Sociology.  

Galina Efimova, head of the UTMN training and research Sociological Laboratory, shared her experience in organizing regional research. According to Professor Efimova, joint research is possible in the spheres of personal identity, issues of immigrant integration, the evaluation of immigration influence on the region’s economic development and social and economic inequality. The issues of the impact of higher education on social elevators and youth competitiveness and the role regions in the global world are also of interest. 

UTMN scholars told their Israel colleagues about UTMN’s participation in the 5-100 Project and discussed the possibility of developing joint academic mobility programmes for UTMN and TAU sociology students and staff.  

The visit to Israel was conducted as part of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation’s assignment on promoting competitiveness of Russian youth in the context of modern sociocultural dynamics. At UTMN, the implementation of the assignment is guided by UTMN Research Advisor, member of the Russian Academy of Education, Dr Gennady Shafranov-Kutsev.
