Valery Falkov: “Society Hears the Governor’s Speech”

In his message to the Tyumen Regional Duma, Vladimir Yakushev noted UTMN’s progress in the 5-100 project. “I raised this topic in my speech in 2015, but today it seems the reality has surpassed all our expectations,” he said.
The speech by the Governor of Tyumen Region, Vladimir Yakushev, was heard not only by deputies and government officials but also by the general public, claimed UTMN Rector and Deputy of the Tyumen Regional Duma, Valery Falkov, while commenting on the head of the region’s 23 November address.

In his message to the Tyumen Regional Duma, Vladimir Yakushev noted UTMN’s progress in the 5-100 project. “I raised this topic in my speech in 2015, but today it seems reality has surpassed all our expectations,” said the head of the region.

He also noted that the needs of modern society were being met by such initiatives as the School of Advanced Studies and the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities recently established at UTMN, as well as the physics and mathematics school and the school of engineering reserve launched in the region, the realization of projects such as “Development of Children Emotional Intelligence” and “Equal Opportunities” and the creation of several information services.

“I named either very similar or very different projects and achievements. I did so as they all have the same meaning for our society – they widen our opportunities. All of them give the citizens of Tyumen region tools for making independent decisions about their future, for pursuing happiness,” added Governor.

According to Valery Falkov, the University of Tyumen made a new start in 2015, when it joined the 5-100 project. Throughout these two years, Vladimir Yakushev has been raising the theme of improving human resources in his public statements and promoting Tyumen and Tyumen region as the centre of gravity for talents.

“Among the other challenges mentioned were the creation of jobs and fundraising. We are ready to meet these challenges, but without creative and talented people interested in living in Tyumen, development will draw to a halt and all our achievements will be short-run,” said Rector.

He also stressed another main idea of the Governor’s message: there are many opportunities in the region to be successful, which can be proved by the ever-growing number of nonprofit and public organizations in Tyumen region that actually exist and are a boon to the region.
