Monday Begins on Saturday!

Society and Culture 20 April 2018
On 20 April, UTMN Information and Library Centre (ILC) held its 5th Biblionight, the all-Russian event to promote reading.

As usual on this occasion, ILC had prepared a large quest for Russian and international students. This year, the quest theme was Books All Over the World. As part of the quest, UTMN students from China, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Egypt, Ghana, and other African countries, as well as from the USA, Serbia, Latin American countries and Russia organized 11 themed stages.

This year’s quest was based on the novel Monday Begins on Saturday by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, so teams acted as junior researchers from the Scientific Research Institute of Sorcery and Wizardry, sent on international business trips to find books for the institute’s library.

During the quest, students took part in various contests and solved puzzles. This year, not only the teams competing but also the organizers of the themed stages with the highest score received prizes. All the participants were awarded diplomas.

Prizes were provided by UTMN partners, in particular, by Sberbank, KENGA Park Jumps, athletic club ‘Antaeus’, Southern Fried Chicken, ‘Ninja’ jumping park, ‘Asteroid Bowling’ sport and recreation centre, ENKO company group, ‘GaloCentre’ salt cave and the all-Russia public organization ‘Delovaya Rossiya’.
