School of Law and Governance is Hosting a Newly Appointed International Expert

Since March 2026, Dr. Niteesh Kumar Upadhyay has been appointed as an international expert at the School of Law and Management of Tyumen State University. As a high-level professional, he will carry out expert activities in the field of legal training for undergraduate and graduate students, deliver lectures and conduct webinars on current global issues in law and artificial intelligence, serve as a mentor in preparing students of the School of Law and Management for participation in international competitions, and engage them in international law schools.
Dr. Niteesh Kumar Upadhyay teaches law at the School of Law, Dhirubhai Ambani University. He is in high demand in the international academic community: he serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the Romanian-American University (Romania) and is an International Research Fellow at the University of Milan (Italy). In addition, he holds the position of Visiting Adjunct Professor of Law at Sohar University (Oman).
He obtained his Ph.D. and Master's degrees fr om the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, India. He is the author of numerous publications, and his research interests encompass human rights, international humanitarian law (IHL), refugee law, cyber law, artificial intelligence, and technology law.
He has been awarded a number of prestigious international fellowships, scholarships, and research grants from organizations such as GAJE (Turkey, Indonesia, South Africa, and Poland), ILEC (New York), the Hague Academy of International Law (Netherlands), Xiamen University (China), the René Cassin Foundation (France), Pro Bono (Hong Kong), CALR at Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan), and the International Association of Procedural Law (IAPL), Italy, wh ere he was awarded a full scholarship to participate in the IAPL Post-Doctoral Summer School.
Dr. Upadhyay has served as a Visiting Professor at many international universities, including the University of Regensburg (Germany), Xiamen University (China), South Ural State University (Russia), Romanian-American University (Romania), the University of Gdańsk (Poland), the University of Salamanca (Spain), the University of Management and Science (Malaysia), Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan), and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan).
He was a member of the Academic Friends Network of the Advisory Committee of the UN Human Rights Council (2021–2024). Dr. Upadhyay conducted postdoctoral research at South Ural State University (Russia) and the University of Reggio Calabria (Italy). He is currently a Research Fellow at Tashkent State University of Law and a Research Associate at Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. At the invitation of the UN Regional Centre for Asia and the Pacific (Thailand), he delivered a lecture series on "Smart Cities and Sustainable Development."
