The Bridge of Friendship Unites Nations
On one of Russia’s most significant national holidays — Russia Day — international students of the Preparatory Department at the University of Tyumen took part in the Festival of National Cultures “Bridge of Friendship.”
A special interactive space was organized for the participants, where students from Mexico, Turkey, Togo, the Republic of the Congo, and other countries once again immersed themselves in Russian life, history, and culture.
At the interactive site “Memory Dugout,” international students explored portraits of Tyumen heroes after whom the city’s streets are named, and performed the famous song “Katyusha” accompanied by the bayan.
The exhibition “Russian Homestead” introduced the guests to the authentic atmosphere of peasant life: fragrant straw, a massive wooden table, an old millstone for grinding grain, a mortar, a flail for threshing, a loom, and even a space for splitting and sawing firewood.
As part of the traditional entertainment program, the students learned the lively folk dance “Kadril” and took part in the popular historical game “Gorodki.”
It is worth noting that throughout the academic year, the Preparatory Department of the University of Tyumen organizes various events aimed at acquainting international students with the Russian language, culture, traditions, history, and everyday life. In the year marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, commemorative lessons acquired particular significance — and international students responded with enthusiasm, actively engaging in these activities.
