Laura Rodríguez about higher education in Russia and Mexico
— Higher education in Russia and Mexico. Key differences.
— I think the most significant difference is that in Russia I study in three languages (English, Russian and French), while in Mexico I studied only in Spanish. In both countries, the teachers are strict and the study plans are complicated. Regarding university facilities, I believe that those in Mexico (at least in my state, Jalisco) are more innovative and they have more laboratories designed for the area of social sciences and humanities, even so, I believe that the University of Tyumen, where I study, has what is necessary for our educational performance.
— The Russian language level at the time of the moving and now.
— When I moved to Tyumen I only knew how to say «привет» and «спасибо», unfortunately, I did not have enough time to study by myself or to find a Russian teacher in Mexico before I came here. Now my level of Russian is very good, I am married to a Russian and Russian is the language we speak at home all the time. I learned it by myself for over 1.5 years before applying to the University of Tyumen.
— Tips for Russian language learners
— I advise you first to familiarize yourself with the generalities of Russian grammar; secondly, always expose yourself to the language (talk and listen to native speakers 24/7 no matter what your level is); thirdly, keep learning continuously, because you never finish studying a language, there is always something new. Lastly, just love Russian language and never question its grammar rules, because otherwise you will end up giving it up.
