UTMN took part in the 5th international industrial exhibition ‘Expo-Russia Serbia 2018’ and Belgrade business forum in Serbia. As part of the forum, participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and leading universities of the two countries, took part in a roundtable devoted to the issue of scientific and technological cooperation between Russian and Serbian universities.
UTMN’s coordinator in the Balkan region, Aleksandr Shuklin, presented his report on the experience and prospects of UTMN’s cooperation with Balkan universities.
“Currently, the list of UTMN partners includes University of Belgrade and University of Pristina (Kosovska Mitrovica) in Serbia and St. Paul the Apostle’s University of Information Science and Technology in Macedonia. Annually, several Serbian students come to UTMN as part of a short-term internship, and a number of UTMN students take internships in Belgrade,” noted Aleksandr Shuklin.

Nikola Tanich, Assistant to the Minister of Education of Serbia, praised UTMN’s cooperation experience with Serbian universities and expressed his wish to continue developing Russian-Serbian relations.
In February, UTMN acted as coordinator for Tolles Diktat – a dictation in German – in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Almost 800 people took part in the dictation in 30 organized venues.
Because of the launch of a new masters programme in English at the X-BIO Institute, recently established at UTMN, The University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Biology expressed its interest in strengthening active reciprocal cooperation in educational and research spheres.

As part of the exhibition, the terms of allocating Rossotrudnichestvo scholarships to Serbian students was discussed with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Belgrade. Due to this scholarship programme, four alumni of the University of Belgrade have already completed UTMN masters programmes and another Serbian student is defending her thesis this year.
After the roundtable, the UTMN representative was invited to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia for further discussion of cooperation prospects.
