Prospective students from Vietnam can receive education at UTMN

On December 10–16, in Hanoi, within the framework of cooperation between the University of Tyumen, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and the Russian Center of Science and Culture, was organized a series of events under the project “Mechanisms for promoting Russian language and literature contests in multicultural educational spaces”. The project was financed by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation as part of the state program "Development of Education".

The teachers of Russian had an opportunity to take an advanced training course "Russian language abroad: a variety of techniques and practices." Its main objective is to adopt modern approaches in teaching Russian and find new methods to compensate for the absence of a language environment. In their turn, Vietnamese schoolchildren enjoyed interactive activities and language games.

The UTMN delegation met with headmasters of the special schools Bien Hoa (Nam Dinh), Le Hong Fong (Nam Dinh) and Hoang Van Thu (Hoa Binh). During the meetings, they discussed prospects for future cooperation and Vietnamese children’s perspectives on studying at the University of Tyumen. More than 150 senior pupils took part in the contest “Learn Russian with fun” and got acquainted with Tyumen and UTMN in a playful way.

The UTMN professors aim to promote exchange of new teaching methodologies. They are ready to provide support for talented young people who are interested in getting higher education in Russia. The project is coordinated by Elena Tumakova, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor in the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs.

It should be noted that twelve Vietnamese citizens are currently studying at the University of Tyumen. UTMN has concluded cooperation agreements with two universities in Vietnam - Hue University and Hanoi University.

For the first time, the UTMN delegation visited Hanoi in 2017. The specialists from the Department of Russian language took part in organizing the Russian language olympiad for Vietnamese schoolchildren and students and implementing the 7th phase of the long-term educational project “Russian Universities”.
