Experts Discuss New Electronic Resource Possibilities
The TSU Information and Library Centre (ILC), with the support of leading global and Russian database suppliers, named this month electronic resources month.
For one month – from 24th October till 18th November 2016 – the ILC invites researchers, professors, undergraduate and graduate students to explore the electronic resources available to the university and to take part in series of special seminars/webinars and lectures aimed at increasing the university’s information system competencies.
A representative of the ILC at TSU explains the importance of using electronic resources: “The quality use of electronic resources is the most important competence of a modern researcher, professor, and student, especially when working with large amounts of information. As a subscriber to many databases, we are interested in expanding work skills with electronic resources and acquiring greater research literacy.”
Information expert and manager of the ELS “University Library Online” Pavel Kallinickov will hold a series of webinars in order to discuss the ELS reader, search tools, citations within ELS, and compare Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). Svetlana Shnurova, a representative of the “Lan” publishing house, will discuss innovative technologies in the field of electronic library systems. Elsevier in Russia analytical service consultant Galina Yashenock will instruct students how to analyze and search for scientific information within the Scopus database. Finally, Thomson Reuters company specialist Margarita Sidorova will conduct a database seminar concerning “Web of science.”
