Winter Universiade 2019 to take place in Krasnoyarsk

About 3 000 athletes from more than 50 countries are expected to participate in the first University Winter Games in Russia.
The University Winter Games in Krasnoyarsk will take place from the 2nd to 12th of March 2019.



The Winter Universiade 2019 is the third Universiade hosted by Russia. However, the Games in Krasnoyarsk will become the first winter ones in Russia.

In Krasnoyarsk, spectators and athletes from all over the world will join a unique international holiday of youth and sport while discovering far-away, mysterious and splendid snow-blanketed Siberia.

About 3 000 athletes from more than 50 countries are expected to participate in the first University Winter Games in Russia. Athletes will compete 76 sets of awards in 11 sports: alpine skiing, bandy, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, short track, ski orienteering, snowboarding.

The event is expected to gather about 1,5 billion online viewers worldwide, 110 000 spectators in the stands and more than 15 000 volunteers.
