The master’s program “Management and Innovation in Education”

The world is changing, and schools are changing too. Today, more than ever, education needs new leaders qualified for the formation of the key skills of the 21st century.

The program is intended for those who have already received a pedagogical education and are planning a career in education.It provides an opportunity to go deep into the critical problems of education and acquire research competencies.

Leadership in education is a key theme of the program. Why is it necessary to study leadership?

Four peculiarities of the program:

  1. Interdisciplinary – it includes modules such as introduction to educational issues, quantitative and qualitative research methods; leadership, organizational and human development, strategic planning, project and innovation management; strategies for developing key skills of the 21st century; information management.

  2. International – there is an opportunity to study for a term at the University of Malta (Erasmus+program). The curriculum includes the module "Information Management in Education", which the studentsstudy by choice at the University of Daugavpils, Latvia.

  3. Individual-oriented – there is a choice of research or application track.

  4. Practice-oriented – the amount of practice is 30 credits out of 120 credits of the total program volume.

Research interests: inclusion and academic freedom in education, teacher education in the digital age.

The head of the international module “Information Management in Education” is Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, the head of the department of Computer Sciences in the University of Daugavpils (Latvia), the author of more than 50 scientific publications, professor Svetlana Ignatjeva. Research interests: quantitative and qualitative research methods.

The international master’s program “Practical Pedagogy”

The program is intended for graduates of non-pedagogical (classical) areas who are planning a career in education as a teacher.It provides an opportunity to go deep into the critical problems of education and acquire pedagogical competence.

Why should a modern teacher have a master's degree in education science?
