International Relations

International Relations

Analytics and Consulting in International Relations

This master's program is aimed at training experts who will work in the field of international relations. Unlike most other programs, our curriculum is designed to provide students with practical knowledge and skills that can be applied to solve modern global problems immediately after graduation. The program was prepared by both Russian and foreign scholars. The curriculum was developed in consultation with leading world institutions of higher education such as John F. Kennedy School of Government and The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution, and Peace.

During two years of intensive training, students will be working under the guidance of leading theorists and practitioners in the field of international relations. This experience will allow them to better understand the mechanisms that govern world politics, and, in the future, begin to shape international processes on their own. We will train analysts and consultants who will play an advisory role for key decision-makers at the local level in the Tyumen region, Russia, Eurasia and the world.

The program covers topics that are currently on the agenda of world leaders' summits and in the focus of media attention. Our multidisciplinary set of courses demonstrates to students that these issues (such as inequalities in globalization, terrorism or environmental security) require a combination of approaches from different disciplines (for example, area studies, diplomacy, psychologists and IT) to solve them effectively.

All courses in this MA program are offered exclusively for the students in this program. Here are some examples of the courses you will take:

  • The Challenges of Globalization and Interdependence in the Modern World
  • Introduction to Public Sector Consulting
  • Introduction to Trade and Finance Consulting
  • Simultaneous Interpretation in Negotiations
  • Applied History for Analysts
  • Countering Terrorism
  • Speech-writing for diplomats
  • BRICS in Global Politics
  • Conflicts in the post-Soviet Space
  • The Future of the European Union: between Separatism and Federalism

The target audience of the program is holders of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and humanities. However, graduates of the bachelor’s degree in natural or computer sciences, who hope to benefit from the experience of studying global problems in an international environment to further their professional goals, are also welcome to apply.

Our future graduates, we believe, will find employment not only in the well-established jobs in academia, or in diplomatic service, but will also be competitive in the newly emerging labor markets that require intellectual flexibility, soft skills and adaptability, especially in the era of the digital economy.

The program is led by professor in the department of Contemporary History and International Affairs, Tomasz Blusiewicz (PhD, Harvard University).
