Natalia Konovalova, Business Development Manager for Russia & CIS at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), has visited UTMN.
Natalia Konovalova, Business Development Manager for Russia & CIS at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) based at the Australian Embassy in Moscow, visited UTMN with a view to develop cooperation between Russian and Australian universities.

At the meeting with the UTMN Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs, Andrei Tolstikov, they discussed possible routes of cooperation with Australian educational organisations.

Some members of the Group of Eight, a coalition of leading Australian universities, could potentially become UTMN partners. For example, UTMN is currently developing cooperation in the oil and gas sphere with the University of New South Wales, Sidney. Moreover, the University of Tyumen cooperates with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’s (CSIRO) institutions working on biodiversity issues.

The Austrade representative noted the relevance of research in the sphere of biosecurity conducted at the X-BIO Institute of Environmental and Agricultural Biology. Such fields as economics, tourism and service, ecology and IT were also named among the fields of prospective cooperation. As part of the visit, Natalia Konovalova had a look at the School of Advanced Studies (SAS) and showed a great interest in its innovative format.

Natalia Konovalova gave a presentation on Australia during globalization: education and science for UTMN professors and students and shared useful information on scholarship and grant programmes offered by Australian universities. Following the meetings, the expert noted UTMN’s well-developed research infrastructure and high potential for cooperation with Australian institutions.
